Strike a pose at an official Bristol Selfie Spot

Bristol is full of iconic photo op locations. To help everyone snap the perfect self-portrait at some of these landmarks, the City of Bristol, Tennessee has installed a number of official Bristol Selfie Spots. These spots are in the form of sidewalk stickers that provide a convenient guide for proper foot placement to help achieve the optimum selfie angle.

The Selfie Spots can be found near popular locations such as the Bristol Chamber of Commerce guitar, Bristol Motor Speedway, and of course the historic Bristol sign. Other spots can be found at one of Bristol’s most photographed nighttime spots (Hint: It’s a street in the downtown area, but not one that cars typically travel on; you can “bank” on that) and even a mobile Selfie Spot that may move around to different parks and special events all over Bristol.

“Whether someone is visiting Bristol from the other side of the world or they’ve lived here all their life, it’s only natural to want to capture their experience here and share it with friends and family,” said Jon Luttrell, Public Relations Specialist for the City of Bristol, Tennessee. “The Selfie Spots are a tool we’re happy to offer to help turn those Bristol memories into images that will last a lifetime.”

After capturing the moment and, of course, applying the perfect filter, visitors and residents alike are encouraged to share their images on Instagram or any of their favorite social media platforms with #agoodplacetoselfie. Particularly stellar selfies may even be featured on the city’s official Instagram account @cityofbristoltn.

For more information, contact Jon Luttrell, Public Relations Specialist, at 423-764-4171 or email jluttrell@bristoltn.org.

Celebrating 19 years in Historic Downtown, Border Bash—Bristol’s premier summer concert series—is back for another amazing season! “Border Bash is a tradition that showcases everything that makes Downtown Bristol special, and that includes great live music,” said Maggie Bishop, Executive Director of Believe in Bristol. "Bristol’s downtown is definitely a hub for a wide variety of food, unique shopping, community events, and an all-around great place to come together with friends and family. This year Border Bash will introduce audiences to a whole new roster of talented, emerging acts as well as a few familiar favorites.”

August 3rd – Piedmont Intersection
7:00 pm, Thriftstore Cowboys
8:30 pm, Guy Marshall

Border Bash takes place on State Street in Historic Downtown Bristol. Children’s activities and vendors begin at 6:30 PM and live music will kick off at 7:00 PM. Border Bash is hosted by Believe in Bristol and the Cities of Bristol, TN & VA. Border Bash would not be possible without our community sponsors. Our sponsors in 2018 include Alpha Natural Resources, The Antique Automobile Club of America – Appalachian Region, Bank of America, Bank of Tennessee, Birthplace of Country Music, Blackbird Bakery, Bristol Herald Courier, Camellia Digital, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Anne & Ben Cowan, Discover Bristol, Express AV Productions, John & Brenda Fincher, Grifols, Highlands Realty – Bristol Branch, Anna Morgan, Tom and Barbara Smith/ Merrill Lynch, Stateline Bar & Grille, Strongwell, Tri-Cities Escape Game, Tri City Tent and Event, Walling Distributing Dr. & Mrs. Zaidi and media sponsors Bristol Herald Courier, Radio Bristol, WCYB-5, and WXBQ 96.9 FM.

About Thriftstore Cowboys
The Lubbock based sextet, which includes Fluitt, Colt Miller, Clint Miller, Cory Ames, Kris Killingsworth, and Amanda Shires on fiddle and vocals, have been touring together for a decade after meeting at the musical South Plains College. They are neither of the typical Texas-based types of bands – a country-rock mélange or strictly indie rock. As Buddy Magazine points out, “Thrift Store Cowboys' feel is more, for a lack of better description, gypsy desert music — the free sound of spacey, heat-induced delirium...a sure, confident sound backed by thoughtful vision.” Schumacher produced their 2007 release, Lay Low While Crawling or Creeping, of which Austin Sound said, “the album is to country music what Jim Jarmusch’s film Deadman was to the western.”

About Guy Marshall
Guy Marshall Shirley was Adam McNulty's late grandfather. "Shirley passed away in 2008, but the kind of man that he was and the land he called home lives on inthe music made by McNulty and his wife, Sarrenna. Together with a few talented friends, they’ve made Guy Marshall an up-and-coming East Tennessee roots-rock outfit that plays with touching beauty and sincerity."
