Tartuffe

July 27–29 | Theatre Bristol

Theatre Bristol is proud to present a Moliere comedic classic, “Tartuffe,” produced by the Theatre Bristol Youth Service Board, with literary direction by Glenn Patterson, July 27, 28, and 29 at the Theatre Bristol ARTspace.

Orgon is a lucky man! He has a lovely wife, two devoted children and all the wealth a man could need. And now he’s found Tartuffe, a humble and pious holy man who promises eternal salvation. Orgon’s family sees a different Tartuffe; a con man out to wed Orgon’s daughter, seduce his wife, and steal his fortune. When the family decides to end Tartuffe’s reign of terror, they hatch a bold and hilarious plot to expose him — but he won’t go down without a fight!

The cast is made up of the Youth Service Board members, all Theatre Bristol veterans. Jace Lyon leads the production as Orgon, supported by Camille Gray as his wife Elmire, along with his two children, Devon White as Damis and Morgan Whitaker as Mariane. Other family members include Anna Kimerer as Orgon’s mother, Madame Perenelle, and Luke Gray as Elmire’s brother, Cleante. Seth Gilstrap is Valere, the charming love-interest to Mariane, and Lucy Tester is the fiesty maid, Dorine. Whitney Brooks plays Flipote, Madame Perenelle’s lazy handmaid, and Maliah Tilley serves as Loyal, a faithful servant of the law who is supported by Parker Dugger and Abigail Combs as Officers. Jim Altman rounds out the cast in the title role as the swindling “holy man,” Tartuffe.

Marley Hillman is stepping up to the new challenge of stage managing and Camille Gray is excited to have the opportunity to set design again. Emma Kennedy and Albert Tester are looking forward to be working in the tech deck, operating lights and sound. With the help of their mentors, Samantha Gray and Steve Baskett, the Youth Service Board has put together a truly entertaining comedy.

"Tartuffe" is literary directed by Glenn Patterson and managed by Theatre Bristol Youth Service Board members ages 13 to 20. After the successes of their previous productions, "Pygmalion," "Love's Labour's Lost," and “The Importance of Being Earnest,” the YSB is excited to have the opportunity to present this classic play.

Farm & Fun Time ft. Carson Peters & Iron Mountain and the Brother Brothers

July 28 | Birthplace of Country Music Museum

Iron Mountain
Carson Peters started playing the fiddle at the ripe old age of 3 when his parents bought him a 1/8 size fiddle. By age 4, he was playing in fiddle competitions and jamming at musical festivals. Carson has continued to hone his talents, winning many competitions along the way. At 13 years old, Carson is a seasoned performer playing numerous venues with his band throughout the region including Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, Dollywood’s Bluegrass and BBQ, Asheville’s Bluegrass First Class, Song of the Mountains, Carter Family Fold and WDVX’s World Class Bluegrass concert series to name a few. Carson has also had the honor of playing on national TV as a guest on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Little Big Shots with Steve Harvey, as well as play with Jimmy Fortune on the floor of the Tennessee State Senate. On March 28, 2014, Carson’s dream of playing on the Grand Ole Opry stage was realized when he was invited by Ricky Skaggs to come perform with him and his band, Kentucky Thunder. In May of the same year, Carson was asked to make a reappearance at the Opry, but this time with his own band. On July 31, 2014, Carson made his Ryman Auditorium debut playing again with Ricky Skaggs during the 2014 Bluegrass Nights series. Since these appearances, Carson and his band have performed numerous occasions on the Opry Show.

The Brother Brothers
Their sound is striking and undeniably captivating. Often leaning towards the darker, moody elements of Appalachian folk, and bluegrass traditions, their songs are laden with near perfect sibling harmonies or unison singing, compelling writing, and imaginative arrangements. They tour as an acoustic duo: David on cello and guitar, and Adam on the 5-string fiddle. With individual storied music careers under their belts, the brothers have finally teamed up to bring their experiences together.
