Tunes at Noon

Come on in to the Paramount to enjoy a free live entertainment! ($5 suggested donation.) Weekly free summer series have been a tradition at The Paramount and have been made possible by David and Frances F. Caldwell.
Tunes at Noon is on a special day this week — WEDNESDAY — featuring Tensegrity, an award-winning string quartet composed of the Lugo siblings.

Join us at the State Street Farmer's Market, where local merchants, fresh food and fun times come together. Choose your favorite local produce, homemade foods and unique arts and crafts. The market is open from May through October.

Don't forget! The State Street Farmer's Market accepts SNAP/EBT cards. Participants can scan their card and receive wooden tokens of either $1 or $2 in value and can use those tokens with participating vendors.

Full Moon Jam: The System — Bob Seger Tribute Band

“The System”, a premier Bob Seger Tribute Band, has been performing across the country since 1999. They’ve recreated a classic 70’s era concert experience with all of the fan and radio favorites, combining studio, as well as live versions, from the multi-platinum “Live Bullet” album.

For the 20th year, the City of Bristol Tennessee will be hosting the free concert series "Full Moon Jam" on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Downtown Center (Country Music Mural), 810 State Street. Performances begin at 7 p.m. and continue until 9 or 9:30 p.m. through September 29th.
Bring a lawn chair or come early to grab one of the 350 chairs provided on-site. Refreshments are sold in the concessions area for a nominal fee. Clean, well-stocked restrooms also available.
You are asked not to park in the bank drive-through area adjacent to the venue and please do not to bring skateboards or bicycles into the venue. Parking is available on Shelby Street in the Municipal parking lot or on State Street in designated parking spaces.

"Straight Up: Tennessee Whiskey" Film Screening

“Straight Up: Tennessee Whiskey” —a film festival favorite and winner of Best Documentary Short at the 2014 Nashville Film Festival — will be screened at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum on Thursday, July 21 at 7:00 p.m. This documentary covers Tennessee’s long history of producing some of the world’s finest liquor, from the hills of moonshine-making to modern liquor artisans in the city. Writer and director Eric Byford will be present to answer questions about the film. The screening of “Straight Up: Tennessee Whiskey” is free and open to the public.
After the film screening, Adam Blankenship — proprietorof Whiskey Rebellion, a soon-to-be open downtown business — will be leadinga whiskey tasting at the museum. The tasting will featurea variety of whiskeys, including a rare bottle of George Dickel and a selection from Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery. You must be over 21 to take part in the tasting, and tickets are$5and must be purchased at the door.
This eventis part of the programming to accompany our special exhibit “Made in Tennessee: Manufacturing Milestones.” The exhibit chronicles the rich variety of manufacturing traditions in Tennessee over the past 2 ½ centuries from the early agricultural and craft heritage to our current age of advanced technology and global competition. The diverse panels and artifacts highlight the history of manufacturing in Tennessee, while also featuring a huge variety of the industries and companies that were once found – or still exist – throughout the state, including several local manufacturers.
“Made in Tennessee: Manufacturing Milestones”is a traveling exhibition organized by the East Tennessee Historical Society in Knoxville, Tennessee. The exhibition project was made possible through an educational grant from the Alcoa Foundation to highlight Tennessee’s manufacturing story—past, present, and future. The grant was awarded in honor of Alcoa Tennessee Operations 100th Anniversary and the announcement of its automotive expansion project on May 2, 2013. Additional support comes from the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Dan Deel

Dan Deel is a singer/songwriter who was born in Pikeville, Kentucky and raised in Buchanan County, Virginia (pronounced BUCK-anan not BYOO). Singer/songwriter who has performed solo and with bands in honky-tonks, bars, restaurants, nursing homes, and private parties all throughout the Appalachians. He has opened for a wide diversity of acts such as Roger Alan Wade, Kentucky Headhunters, Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum, and several others. Hardcore rockin honky tonk music at its core., Dan always weaves captivating, motivational , and even humorous tales with every song he performs. Dan really gets the crowd involved and feeling good!
Radio Bristol Premieres: Malcolm Holcombe

Acclaimed singer/songwriter Malcolm Holcombe, whose “heartfelt baritone” (NPR) delivers “haunted country, acoustic blues and rugged folk” (Rolling Stone), will perform music from his latest album Another Black Hole during a special Radio Bristol Premiers concert on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum.
Produced by Grammy-winning producer and engineer Ray Kennedy and Brian Brinkerhoff, Another Black Hole features Holcombe’s rasping vocals and bright, percussive guitar accentuating his insightful lyrics.
“It is Malcom’s perception of the world that make his songs hit you like a gunpowder blast. His gruff and tough delivery is a primordial power full of grit, spit, and anthropomorphic expression,” says Kennedy.
Tickets to be part of the studio audience for the live performance are $20.
Yoga in the Park

Do you like spending time outside? Do you like listening to bird songs? Do you want to meet new friends and take care of your health? Join Wellness Yoga of Bristol in the park for a free yoga practice. Classes will be held every Saturday in June, July, and August, weather permitting. The yoga practices will be taught by Rita Gregory and Nicole Putnam. Enjoy your free yoga practice in the midst of beautiful nature! Practices will be held at Cumberland Square Park in Bristol, VA! Jerry Douglas presents Earls of Leicester

BUY TICKETS HERE! The Earls of Leicester is a group of like-minded musicians banding together to recreate the wonderful music of Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys. Led by thirteen-time Grammy-winner Jerry Douglas, The Earls of Leicester features the talents of some of Nashville's most talented musicians, including hit songwriter Shawn Camp on guitar and lead vocals, Tim O'Brien on mandollin, bassist Barry Bales (Douglas's cohort in Alison Krauss & Union Station), fiddler Johnny Warren (son of Paul Warren, legendary fiddle player in Flatt & Scruggs' Foggy Mountain Boys band), and acclaimed banjo player Charlie Cushman. The band plays selections from the era of 1954 to 1965. During these years, the band was comprised Lester, Earl, dobro player Josh Graves, fiddler Paul Warren, tenor singer and mandonlist Curly Seckler and bass player Jake Tullock. In a relatively short time as a performing group, "The Earls" shows have quickly become the stuff of legend in the roots/acoustic/bluegrass community. Learn more at their website.
Victor Lawson and Boogie Chillen

Victor Lawson and Boogie Chillen are among the talented bands in the burgeoning blues scene in the Tri-Cities. Established about nine years ago and led by Lawson, the tight three-man band take their name from the song, “Boogie Chillen,’” which was made famous by late Delta blues icon, John Lee Hooker.
The New Conspirators

The New Conspirators will be bringing their honky tonk stylings to one of the finest brewery establishments in the southeast!
Bristol Brewery is proud to have The New Conspirators at the Brewery Saturday, July 19, from 8:00 — 10:00 PM. Come out to Bristol Brewery for some good tunes and, of course, some good beer!
Full Moon Jam: Turkey Creek

The Turkey Creek String Band is an exciting seven-person acoustic ensemble centered in Southern Middle Tennessee. Their repertoire consists of traditional fiddle tunes, folk, western swing, waltzes, bluegrass, and Irish jigs. Their unique triple and quadruple fiddle tunes add a flavor rarely seen in string bands.
