A special thank you to Serendipity and Be.Ella Boutique’s for allowing us to bring back an old favorite, Horse and Carriage rides to the Open House event. There are 2 locations planned for pick-up / drop-off, The Downtown Center (Country Music Mural/Farmers Market area) and TriSummit Bank parking lot, a small charge of $2 per person for a one-way ticket down State Street or $4 per person for a round-trip ride.
Keep a look out for your favorite decorated window as the downtown merchants will be participating in the Merry Merchants Window Decorating Contest. The theme this year is from the movie “The Christmas Story” and A Major Award will be given to the winner!
The Open House has traditionally been a customer appreciation night when merchants stay open late, have special discounts, and refreshments are served at participating locations. Join us and support your downtown shops; it’s a great way to stimulate our local economy and find special one-of-a-kind gifts for everyone on your holiday list!

Smithsonian "Virtual Museum" to Highlight Music
Music lives and breathes at the Smithsonian. Join Smithsonian Secretary Wayne Clough as he highlights their efforts to share musical performances, instruments, documents and collections by creating a Smithsonian music hub available to everyone.
"Through Smithsonian Music Initiative we're going to bring together the efforts of over two dozen units of the Smithsonian in and around music," said Clough in an online video posted to the Smithsonian's website. Birthplace of Country Music Museum, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, is one of two music museums mentioned in the piece.
"We're going to digitize our holdings and make them available through our first virtual museum so scholars, enthusiasts and music lovers all over the world can access our collections. There will be nothing like it in the world."
The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum institution. Through programming, events and their notable music collections, the Smithsonian is a leader in showcasing the impact and influence of music on human culture.
Birthplace of Country Music urges musicians in our region to
join the initiative. Artists are invited by the Smithsonian Institution to post a video performance or photos of musicians with their instruments to firstname.lastname@example.org for their online gallery.
Do you have recordings or items that relate to the Bristol Sessions and their legacy in American music? The Birthplace of Country Music Museum, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, accepts donations of historic significance. Contact Dave Lewis, Curator of Collections & Digital Media at email@example.com or call 423-573-1927.
