There is still time to sign up for the 6th Annual Homemade Candy Contest

A reminder that there is still time to sign up for the Bristol Public Library’s 6th Annual Homemade Candy Contest on Friday, February 24th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the J. Henry Kegley Meeting Room. This event is free and open to the public. Entry forms will be available at the library and on the Bristol Public Library website and should be returned on or before 10:30 a.m. the day of the event. Each contestant should submit approximately 30 pieces to be split between 3-4 judges and distributed for other contestants to enjoy. Samples should be submitted on a non-returnable dish. Recipes should be printed on the back of entry form, or on an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper and are subject to be printed in library publications or website. Entry form should be filled out in its entirety. Contestants will be separated by categories by types of candy and by age group.

ETSU & VIRGINIA HIGH SCHOOL present A COLLABORATIVE CONCERT!

Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7pm — ETSU Director of Bands, Christian Zembower, and Virginia High School Director of Bands, Tom Hopson, will present a collaborative band concert with each of their concert bands. Each concert band will present several selections individually, and then conclude with several selections collaboratively for the concert finale. Admission is by donation.

A hands on class with step by step instruction. You will learn to transform clay into a beautiful work of art on the electric potter's wheel. The clay will be formed into a bowl then fired and glazed during your class. Class will be held February 21 and 22 from 11 am to 1 pm at One fo a Kind Gallery at 604 State Street. Class fee is $60. Tracking Bristol Virginia — Tennessee!

Be sure to pick up a copy of local author and history enthusiast Joyce Kistner's book Tracking Bristol Virginia-Tennessee! The book is based on the fourth grade local history program presented to the Bristol Virginia-Tennessee Public Schools by the Bristol Historical Association. It describes the “Meet Camp” area where Bristol, Tennessee and Goodson, Virginia were located and named in 1856. Along with the text are 42 historical pictures of Bristol and original artwork by the author. A few games are included for some added entertainment. Books are for sale $12 and can be purchased at CJ & Co. or The Bristol Chamber of Commerce!
