State Street Farmers Market Annual Tomato Fest
August 18, 2012 | 12 am
Toe-ma-toe, To-ma-to, however you say it, come out to the State Street Farmers Market Saturday morning and have one of summer’s most desired, luscious fruits of the vine tucked between two halves of a fresh baked biscuit. The best part is that this mouthwatering delight is free!
The State Street Farmers Market will be hosting its annual Tomato Fest. The fest will feature tomatoes from all the market vendors. Some Heirloom type tomatoes and some local favorites as well. Biscuits will be available for as long as they last. Come early and shop before the selection becomes limited.
Don’t forget to stop by the market’s sweet corn vendors and get the last of the crop for the year and remember green beans are now available by the bushel. “For fresh fruit and vegetables don’t forget the State Street Farmers Market. It is open Saturday mornings until the end of October and Wednesday afternoons until the end of September. Right now there is still a great selection available,” said Terry Napier, Director of Parks and Recreation, the department that oversees the operation of the market for the city.
