"Scythian was a crowd favorite in 2008 and 2009 at the Bristol Rhythm &Roots Reunion. Their energy and crowd participation is something to behold. Their show is not to be missed!" Leah Ross, Executive Director, Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion.
Take a pair of classically trained dueling fiddlers, toss in a rhythm guitar and the occasional funky accordion, then power it with the driving rhythm of a jazz percussionist, and you've got the ingredients for a show you won't soon forget. Their high-energy, adrenaline-peddling, interactive brand of music has one goal in mind; to get people on their feet and dancing. Their repertoire ranges from traditional and contemporary Celtic and folk music to the alluring and dramatic strains of Gypsy and Eastern European tunes, and then crosses back over the border to pick up some good old-fashioned bluegrass licks.
“2009 was our second time performing at the Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion and we can honestly say that this is one of our favorite festivals in the country. The whole vibe is totally unique with the indoor and outdoor stages and the great historic feel. The killer lineup had us running around from stage to stage, to the point where we forget we are actually performing. The warm reception of the regions people is in keeping with the age old adage "southern hospitality". You know a festival is great when you turn around to see the Executive Director clogging behind you and the volunteers dancing at their posts. In just over a year Bristol has gone from a vague spot on a map to one of our favorite stops and we're very excited about coming back and playing the train station — a unique setting that will promise to make for a dynamite show. Hope ya'll can make it back to the Train Station and kick up some dust with us!” Dan Fedoryka, Scythian.
“We have been waiting over a year now to have these guys (Scythian) back at the Bristol Train Station. The venue has since spent thousands of dollars to improve acoustics in the space and we are going to put them to the test for this show. We had a tremendous crowd last year, with nearly 400 in attendance and we are expecting as many for this performance. We appreciate your support of live music in Bristol and hope to see you all out for this special event!” Eric Blevins, Broken Strings Productions.
