Bristol Sign Contest

April 28 – May 1, 2010

In conjunction with the Bristol Slogan Sign Centennial, the Twin City Photo Club of Bristol has announced a one time photograph contest. This photo competition only has one subject: ALL IMAGES MUST BE OF THE BRISTOL SIGN. The competition is open to amateur, professional, youth and young adult. This competition and gallery show will be the weekend of April 30, which will be day commemorating the sign’s anniversary.

For details, go to the club’s website www.twincityphotoclub.com. Under Photo Contest you may download the rules and entry form. There will be no printed forms. The entry fee will be $3.00 per print for youth and young adult, $5.00 per print for amateur, and $8.00 per print for professional. Judging will be on Thursday April 28 and the exhibit will be displayed through Saturday May 1. The judging and exhibit will be held at the Bristol Train Station. The Twin City Photo Club is a group open to anyone who enjoys any aspect of photography. The club is comprised of all skill levels and interests with the goal of sharing knowledge and experiences. They just celebrated their second year and have grown to a group of nearly 30 members. They would welcome anyone to join-in and experience the fun and fellowship. They meet the first Tuesday of each month at the Bristol Chamber of Commerce at 7:00 PM.

The anniversary celebration will be held on Friday April 30. Events will include special guests, John Rose, the official artist for King Feature’s Snuffy Smith, one of the longest running cartoons in history, and Tod Swormstedt, director of the American Sign Museum in Cincinnati Ohio. A special anniversary cake will be prepared by Chef Richards of the Southeast Culinary School. There will be activities throughout the day, culminating with a celebration in front of the Bristol Sign prior to dusk and concluding with an exceptional musical variety show at the Paramount Center. Tickets for the Paramount show entitled THE TIMES OF OUR SIGN will be made available the first of April.
