Virgie R. Fleenor Art Gallery to Feature Quilts from Holston Quilters Guild in April

April 1–30, 2010

During the month of April, quilts from the Holston Quilters Guild will hang in the Bristol Public Library’s Virgie R. Fleenor Art Gallery in conjunction with the Community Read book “Fair and Tender Ladies” by Lee Smith.

The Holston Quilters Guild was formed in 1988 by Eva Sims, former owner of the Quilt Shop in Bristol, VA. Members span from residents of Bristol all the way to Greenville. Lydia Morris is the only remaining charter member. Guild meetings are held on the 3rd Saturday of each month at the First United Methodist Church on Vance Drive in Bristol, TN at 9:30 a.m. Each meeting includes a project which may be the beginning of a bed quilt or a smaller project such as a table runner. All levels of ability are welcome to join. For more information on the Holston Quilters Guild, call Wanda John at (423) 878-3466 or email wanda.c@juno.com.

The Holston Quilters Guild exhibit will be on display in the Virgie R. Fleenor Art Gallery April 1st-30th. The library is open Monday- Thursday 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday- Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays 2 p.m.-5 p.m.
