The 78 Project Movie

July 16, 2015 | 7 pm

The 78 Project Movie follows the progress of two filmmakers as they journey across America recording musicians using a 1930s Presto direct-to-disc recorder. The result: a variety of 78rpm records of folk singers and punk rockers, gospel songs and Cajun music, along with insights and history about field recording and sound technology from historians, archivists, sound techs, and craftspeople. Dave Lewis, Curator of Collections and Digital Media, will present a brief introduction before the film. Tickets are $5; please call423-573-1927 to purchase tickets.
