Bristol Community Information Meeting Announced for Mountains of Music Homecoming
Abingdon, VA: The Crooked Road, Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail in cooperation with Believe in Bristol and the Birthplace of Country Music will host a community meeting to share exciting plans and information for all those interested in the Mountains of Music Homecoming scheduled for June 2015. The meeting will be held on October 16th, at 5:30 p.m. at Believe in Bristol, 36 Moore Street, Bristol, Virginia.
A first-ever event, The Crooked Road’s Mountains of Music Homecoming is an annual nine-day, region-wide celebration of the traditional music and communities of Southwest Virginia, featuring their many cultural and natural assets. The inaugural festival will be held June 12 through June 20, 2015.
The Mountains of Music Homecoming will provide communities, businesses, and organizations an opportunity to showcase their unique cultural experiences for attendees to enjoy. Those can include community meals, guided history tours, museum or gallery exhibits, artist demonstrations, jam sessions, and more. This is a very special opportunity for the communities to share their signature cultural and natural assets. The cultural experiences can be existing events or can include events created specifically for the Mountains of Music Homecoming.
In addition to cultural experiences and the many existing events in the region, the Mountains of Music Homecoming will feature Crooked Road concerts in 30 to 40 communities throughout Southwest Virginia. Each day, attendees will be able to choose from three to five outstanding traditional music concerts in a variety of unique venues including downtown theatres, state parks, general stores, and colleges.
The October 16 Crooked Road community information meeting will offer residents ofBristol an opportunity to learn more about The Crooked Road’s Mountains of Music Homecoming. Attendees are encouraged to bring ideas with them about possible cultural experiences that can be shared in their community during the festival.
