From Busthead to Boozy Creek: Moonshine on the Map of VA & TN
Joe Tennis, noted local author and journalist, will speak at Bristol Public Library on April 18 at 6:00 p.m. in the J. Henry Kegley Meeting Room. Tennis will explore the history and legacy of moonshine throughout the region, inspecting the marks it has left on our map and recounting the legends that have sprung up around it. Tennis will share ghost tales from Patrick County, stories from the moonshine trade in Tazewell, Washington, and Sullivan counties, and legends of whiskey and more from Franklin County.
Tennis’ visit to the library coincides with the library's current gallery installation, "Teetotalers & Moonshiners: Prohibition in Virginia, Distilled," a traveling exhibition from the Library of Virginia presented with support from the Virginia ABC and the Virginia Distillers Association. "Teetotalers & Moonshiners" will be available and open to the public in the Virgie R. Fleenor Gallery during the library’s hours of operation, until April 28, 2018.
