The Paramount Chamber Players will share the extraordinary rise of the influence of American women in music since the late nineteenth century. The program features the music of Amy Beach (Piano Quartet), acknowledged as the first American female composer widely recognized by music scholars, and Florence B. Price (Folksongs in Counterpoint for String Quartet), the first African-American woman to have music performed by a major American symphony. Juxtaposed with these historical works is the performance of compositions by longtime TPCP collaborators Ann Holler and Evelyn Pursley-Kopitzke. The ensemble will be joined by guest artist Drew Ricciardi from Boston, MA. Players include George Figueroa, violin; Catherine McGlasson, violin; Cherylonda Fitzgerald, cello; Rebecca Paluzzi, flute; and Craig Combs, piano.
