Born Emilie Sunshine Hamilton, Emi was raised in a musical family in Madisonville, Tennessee. She started performing at age four, wrote her first song at age five, recording two albums by the time she turned seven.
A “mind-bogglingly” talented singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, EmiSunshine is “one of the 10 new country artists you need to know” according to Rolling Stone Magazine.
This teenage musical Phenom writes “intense Appalachian folk tunes in the Carter Family tradition and sings them with wisdom and ferocity.” Influenced by country music trendsetters Bessie Smith, June Carter, Loretta Lynn and Hank Williams and The Louvin Brothers, EmiSunshine is a throwback to an earlier era of country music. Her charismatic stage presence, honest lyrics and gutsy voice evoke comparisons to “a modern-day Janis Joplin.” She will be appearing on NBC's Little Big Shots this spring.
This event is made possible in part by a grant from the City of Bristol, TN.
