WDVX/BRRR Blue Plate Special from Bristol!

April 05, 2011

Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion and Alpha Natural Resources will bring our old friends, WDVX 89.9/102.9 FM Knoxville, back to Bristol for a special evening edition of the Blue Plate Special April 9th, 7pm, at The Paramount Center for the Arts on State Street in historic Downtown.

WDVX, SPBGMA's Bluegrass Station of the Year, broadcast their famed Blue Plate Special live from the Paramount during BRRR 2010. We had so much fun, we decided to do it again!

"WDVX is a perfect fit for Bristol Rhythm & Reunion," says Reunion Executive Director Leah Ross. "Their playlist reads like our line-up of artists each year. They work hard to bring our region's best and brightest players to the forefront and are wonderful to work with. It's a great partnership we plan to foster for years to come."

We've got a KILLER line-up, so buy your tickets early and reserve your seat! Shawn Camp & The World Famous Headliners, and The Hackensaw Boys, will perform with local standouts Duty Free and Wise Old River.

Shawn Camp & The World Famous Headliners
As individual songwriters, The World Famous Headliners create Nashville's heart and soul. After all, they've supplied shooting stars like Trisha Yearwood ("Powerful Thing"), Garth Brooks ("Two Pina Coladas"), Don Williams ("Send Her Roses") and countless others with hits a generation deep. Now they're stepping into their own spotlight as Music City's premier songwriting think tank led by Al Anderson, Shawn Camp & Pat McLaughlin. Currently finishing their first album, much is expected of this talented group of Headliners.

The Hackensaw Boys
Jambase states: “One never doubts the Hackensaw Boys are giving you everything they have in them. It’s refreshing in a world of half measures and empty talk. They have their sights on the right things and it always comes through in their music.” This high-energy, folk/rock/country ensemble was a crowd favorite at BRRR 2009 and have toured with a bevy of diverse acts including The Flaming Lips, Cracker, Modest Mouse, Cake, Railroad Earth, Cheap Trick and De La Soul.

Duty Free
Bristol's Duty Free is garage bluegrass at its best. Comprised of some of the area's best known players, their reputation for precision picking and expert licks is only matched by the enthusiasm they generate with audiences.

Wise Old River
Well-crafted songs and outstanding vocals are the hallmark of this southwest Virginia family band. Among the top tier of regional talent, their Americana flavor is heartfelt and completely original.

General admission tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at The Paramount Center for the Arts box office or at Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion located at 416 State Street.
