August 22, 2012

To honor the memory of Merle Dickert, the Executive Director of the Paramount Theatre for the Performing Arts who suddenly passed away recently, the marquee lights will be dimmed at the theatre continuing each Thursday through September 13. The board of directors of the iconic downtown Bristol landmark, unanimously voted to honor Dickert, who successfully led a resurgence of the Paramount in recent years. “We were shocked and saddened by Merle’s sudden passing,” stated Board President Pierce Elliott. “To honor Merle’s memory, the board unanimously voted to dim the lights on the marquee at the theatre Thursday evenings until the first show of the new season which features The Broadway Tenors on September 20, the final season she helped organize.” A memorial fund to honor Dickert has been established at the Paramount.
