City Easter Egg Hunt at Cumberland Square Park to Offer Fun By The Basketful!

March 25, 2013

It’s been an Easter tradition for over three decades, and the 2013 Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the City of Bristol Virginia Parks & Recreation Department once again promises to deliver fun by the basketful to local children through a variety of festive events and activities. The Easter Egg hunt will be held on Saturday, March 30 at Cumberland Square Park in Bristol, Virginia. Activities get underway at 9:30 am with Easter arcade games, Easter bonnet and hat making, and photos with the Easter Bunny sponsored by the Twin City Photo Club. At 10 am, an Easter Parade will usher in the official line-up for the Easter Egg Hunt at 10:10 am. The Easter Egg Hunt is a much-anticipated event for children aged two to nine years old. Prizes will be awarded at 10:20 am. In addition to the scheduled events, children can enjoy free cotton candy, and visit with some of their favorite larger-than-life City and organizational mascots like the Bristol Virginia Police Department Crime Dog, the Fire Department’s Fire Pup, JB Parrot from the Sheriff’s Office, and the White Sox Ding Bat.

In the days preceding the Easter Egg Hunt, children aged four to nine years of age are invited to participate in the 2013 Easter Coloring Contest. The official coloring page has been distributed through the Bristol Virginia City Schools, and is also available for download from the City’s website: bristolva.org. Completed entries should be mailed to: Coloring Contest, PO Box 16523, Bristol, VA 24209 by March 21, 2013. Prizes will be given to the top two entries in each age division.

All Easter Egg Hunt activities are free to the public, with the exception of a nominal charge for photos with the Easter Bunny.

“Each year, the Easter Egg Hunt draws in excess of 300 children,” said Danny Hill, Recreation Superintendent for the City of Bristol Virginia. “Seeing the sheer delight on the faces of the children, makes this event one of the most cherished for City staff members and the host of volunteers who are instrumental in its success,” he added.
