Buster Keaton Silent Movie Film Festival with Rex Ward on the Mighty Wurlitzer at the Paramount

February 03, 2014

The Paramount will be showing a Buster Keaton silent film — College — on Sunday, February 9, starting at 3pm. But first you will be treated to "A VALENTINE'S HOLIDAY" — a one-hour escape of "All play, no talk" Mighty Wurlitzer Top Love Ballads, including Phantom of the Opera, Music Of The Night, Somewhere My Love, Wunderbar, You're Just In Love, and other heart-stirring greats. This will be followed by "COLLEGE", Buster Keaton's spoof of a most inept freshman's attempt at every sport to win over, if only one, of the girls he adored. Savor the warm beauty of the Paramount 'palace', stirring songs as the pipes sing, and classic laughs at images of "Valentine success and disaster" in a fast-moving hour of the Paramount's original 1930s weekend. Prize drawings included! Grab your closest pal and take a "greats break"! This fun event features Mr. Rex Ward, Paramount Center for the Arts House Organist. Rex has been the Paramount’s House Organist for twenty years and is a member of the Piedmont Theatre Organ Society. Admission is by $5 donation at the door and it is general seating. Please call 423-274-8920 for further information.
