Nominations Open for Bristol VA Historic Preservation Awards

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2020 Historic Preservation Awards for the City of Bristol, Virginia. The purpose of the award program is to recognize and honor property owners and developers who engage in preservation projects on properties located in the City of Bristol, Virginia. The city plans to award one property in each of the five historic districts: Euclid Avenue Historic District, Solar Hill Historic District, Virginia Hill Historic District, Bristol Warehouse Historic District, and Bristol Downtown Commercial Historic District.In addition, the city is excited to announce a new City-Wide Historic Preservation Award for properties within the Bristol, Virginia city limits, but located outside of the city's historic districts.

"Restoration and long-term maintenance projects on residential and commercial properties encourage community revitalization, preserving the rich history and charming landscape of our city" according to Catherine Brillhart, Committee Chair. The 2020 award recipients will be recognized at a public ceremony on May 21, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. The location will be announced at a later date. Nomination forms may be printed and mailed or submitted directly online from the city's website at www.bristolva.org. Under the "I Want To..." tab on the top right, choose "Nominate." The deadline for nominations, including self-nomination, is March 31, 2020. Properties are selected based on exterior appearance only.
