The Fairmount Garden Club honored in Historic Downtown Bristol

October 03, 2016

The Fairmount Garden Club aims to beautify the highways entering our cities and conserve by education and practice. They make homes and gardens in the region beautiful and aim to make Bristol a Bird Sanctuary. The club sponsors a city clean-up, a food drive for Bristol Faith in Action in October, financially supports Steele Creek Nature Center, and helps to organize the downtown planting each spring.

Earlier this morning the Fairmount Garden Club was honored with a plaque and small gathering of appreciation. The plaque is located at 627 State Street, Bristol, VA. Special thank you to Karen Hester of Southern Churn for allowing the plaque placement.

The Fairmont Garden Club was formed in 1938 with the first president being Mrs. C.A. Schirer. The Club was federated in 1951 and continues to meet monthly now in their 78thyear! Current club president is Marietta Gangwer of Bristol, TN.

Please join us in congratulating and thanking for The Fairmont Garden Club for your community service.

Ruby Asbury, Club Secretary commented “With the wind and rain in our face, the sun in the sky above, and from the master gardner himself, we have come to know that the hand that made us is divine.”
