Benjamin Walls is honored in state, regional publications

BRISTOL, Va. — Bristol native Benjamin Walls is a recipient of dual 2017 Best of Virginia Awards, presented by Virginia Living Magazine. The accolades follow Walls’ recent recognition by the Arts Alliance Mountain Empire and A! Magazine for the Arts for their contributions to the arts in the Tri-Cities region.

Virginia Living Magazine celebrates people and places to its deep history and traditions. More than 50,000 ballots were cast in this year’s readers’ survey, which solicited entries in multiple categories from across the Commonwealth. Walls was named one of the top Southwest Virginia photographers, and the Benjamin Walls Fine Art Gallery on State Street in downtown Bristol was named one of the top art galleries in the region. The Best of Virginia issue is now at quality newsstands and select stores.

Additionally, Walls recently received the 2017 Arts Achievement Award presented by AAME and A! Magazine for the Arts. Each year, AAME recognizes artists for their contributions to the arts in the Tri-Cities region, and for serving as mentors and sources of inspiration for others.

“I am honored to be recognized by such outstanding publications and organizations,” Walls says. “Sharing my vision of our planet’s last great wild places is my passion, so being acknowledged for my work is very rewarding.”

These accolades are in addition to numerous other recognitions Walls has received over the past 12 years, including six international awards, plus museum exhibits in more than four dozen museums in 12 countries.
