Billy Bob Thornton & the Boxmasters

August 28 | Paramount Center for the Arts

Teddy Andreadis, J.D. Andrew, Brad Davis and Billy Bob “Bud” Thornton make up “The Boxmasters”; an American roots-rock band of seasoned musicians whose sound is rich in rhythm and story.

Formed in 2007, the band released the self-titled debut record “The Boxmasters” to critical acclaim. This two-CD set was comprised of original songs – including the Americana Radio hit “The Poor House” – and eclectic covers of tunes by The Beatles, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Mott The Hoople and Mel Tillis.

After touring the country in 2008, The Boxmasters released a Christmas album – “Christmas Cheer” – and by April of 2009 had released their third album – “Modbilly” (a term that they coined as their style of music which was influenced by 60’s British mod music and influences from Southern American music, both pop and country)– which was yet another double album that spun to the top of the Americana charts for two weeks. “Modbilly” later was ranked #14 on the 2009 Americana Music Association’s Top 100 Albums of The Year.

The Boxmasters are back with a new album – “Somewhere Down The Road” – slated for release April 7, along with an aggressive tour schedule that kicks off with a slew of LIVE performances from Texas to Tennessee and throughout the South.

Matthew Mills @ The Nest

Through September | Blackbird Bakery

Matthew Mills, the creative mind behind Four Terriers Light Collection and Archiving, is pleased to announce he will be returning to the Nest at Blackbird Bakery for a showing in September.

After a two year hiatus to build a new body of work, this show will feature approximately forty framed photos, all of which derived from film originals. Many are black and white fine art images that started with classic films from Kodak and Fuji, and a few were taken on some of the last Efke film ever made and exported from Croatia.

As with Mr. Mills’ last show in 2014, 100% of the sale price of each piece will be donated to local charities. Four Terriers will contribute its portion to the Holly Help Spay and Neuter Fund to help keep unwanted animals out of shelters. Prints for sale will start at $50, and will include some signed and numbered pieces.

The showing starts on 29 August at Blackbird Bakery, 56 Piedmont Avenue, Bristol, Virginia, and runs the month of September. Meet the artist at the opening reception on Thursday evening, 1 September, from 7 until 9 PM.

To learn more about the Holly Help Fund’s efforts to help underprivileged animals in our area, please visit www.HollyHelp.org.
