Annual Veterans Day Parade in Historic Downtown Bristol

The Annual Veterans Day Parade will be held in Historic Downtown Bristol on Saturday, November 9 at 10am. Line up will begin at 8am on Bob Morrison Blvd.

The Traditional Veterans Ceremony will be held after the parade at the Bristol War Memorial at Cumberland Square Park. There will also be an Annual Veterans Day service at Victory Baptist Church, November 10 at 11am, with a catered lunch immediately afterwards for veterans and one guest each.

The Four Freshmen will be at the Paramount Center for the Arts on Tuesday, November 12, at 7:30pm. The Four Freshmen continue to bring their unique brand of vocal harmony to audiences worldwide. The legendary sound that began in 1948 with Bob, Don, Ross and Hal continues on in the 21st century. Brian, Curtis, Vince and Bob have been performing together since 2001. Whether performing with a full symphonic orchestra, in front of a big band, or playing self-contained, their unmistakable sound continues to thrill audiences all over the world. Light refreshments will be provided during this exclusive event, allowing you to meet these talented artists and view their featured artwork. Art Smart classes at the Bristol Public Library

ArtSmart classes have returned to the Bristol Public Library! ArtSmart, a collaboration between the William King Museum and the Library, began last February and was highly successful. Offered on the second Saturday of each month from 10 AM until 11:30 AM, ArtSmart will be taught in the J. Henry Kegley Meeting Room at the Bristol Public Library. Cost is $5 per child which covers the purchase of art supplies. The next ArtSmart will be on Saturday, November 9 at 10am. Designed for grades 2-5 ArtSmart coordinates the Bristol classes with the William King exhibits. Taught by Joyce Kistner, a long-time art teacher in the Bristol Virginia City Schools and acclaimed local artist, the classes give children a bit of history and art background along with hands-on fun and creativity with art activities. Class size is limited to 24 children so parents should register their child as soon as possible. Registration can be done over the phone by calling 276-645-8781.

King Theatre Presents First Student-directed Productions at Paramount Center for the Arts: "Sorry, Wrong Number" and "The Lottery"

King University’s Theatre Department has a long-standing tradition of presenting student-directed theatrical productions. On November 7 — 9, The Paramount Center of the Arts will host its first student-directed theatrical production by King University’s Theatre Department. Show times on November 7 and 8 are 7:30 pm, and on November 9 at 1:30 pm and 7:30 pm. The audience will enjoy two chilling tales full of mystery and intrigue as student director and senior Theatre major Jesse Allen Thomas leads “Sorry, Wrong Number” by Lucille Fletcher and “The Lottery” by Brainerd Duffield based on the story by Shirley Jackson. Tickets can be purchased at the Paramount Box Office, by calling 423-274-8920, or by going to www.theparamountcenter.com. Adult tickets are $10.00; senior citizens are $8.00; and students are $5.00. 606 State Street Gallery has new extended opening hours!

Another Bristol art gallery will now be open for late-night hours, making it easy to plan a fun night out in Historic Downtown Bristol! Starting Thursday, November 14, 606 State Street Gallery will be open until 7pm on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. And remember 606 State Street Gallery also has regular events on other evenings, including the Beaver Creek Storytellers on the first Tuesday of each month from 7 — 9pm and the 606 State Street Jammers every Monday night (except the first Monday of the month) from 7 — 9pm!
