The award-winning Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion is an infectious, three-day music experience, bursting with creative passion, electricity, and soul. Every third weekend in September, State Street in historic Downtown Bristol, TN/VA is amped to the beat of Appalachia’s past, present, and future. It digs down deep into the roots of the traditional Appalachian sound and lifts its branches to new heights. It all happens in the heart of the Birthplace of Country Music™.

Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion boasts24 stages of live music, a dance tent, 16 indoor venues, and more than 140 acts. Headlining acts this year include Robert Earl Keen, City and Colour, Sam Bush, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Dr. Dog, Delta Spirit, Pam Tillis, Billy Joe Shaver and Tift Merritt.

A free Children’s Day Event, a 5k Road Race/2 Mi Fun Walk, Chili Cook-Off, Cornhole Tournament, Luthier Show, and Internet Pavilion are all events within the main attraction. With a $40 Weekend Pass, it’s the most affordable music festival of its kind in the southeast. Please note that passes go up to $50 September 1st and are $60 at the Gate on Friday, September 14th. Day passes can be purchased at any time and the price does not change. Friday $25, Saturday $30, Sunday $20.

Cutthroat Shamrock Rhythm & Roots AfterParty at O'Mainnin's Pub

September 16, 2012
Cutthroat Shamrock performs live in concert at O'Mainnin's Pub in historic downtown Bristol on Sept 16. Cutthroat Shamrock combines the speed of bluegrass with the drive and energy of punk rock and then tops it all off with alittle celtic influence. -Fronted by dual vocals and backed by solid bass lines, the momentum gained by two drummers make this a combination to wake up any size of room. -Each song sounds different from the last yet some how familiar. train like rhythms are traded in for finger picking and the rockabilly slaps of the upright bass are replaced with long dark notes played with a bow. instrumental breaks introduce jigs and reels into almost every song, with guitar leads that would seem more at home on a fiddle or penny whistle.
