Chamber to hold Bristol Virginia City Council Forum

On Monday, April 16, the Governmental Relations Division of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce will host a public forum to introduce the public to the Bristol Virginia City Council candidates. The forum will be held at the Bristol Public Library, beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Candidates Forum is open to the public; however, the floor will not be open for questions or debate. Candidates will address questions prepared by the Bristol Chamber with input from the Bristol Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors and the Government Relations Committee. None of the candidates will have access to the questions prior to the forum.

Adriana Trigiani is coming to Bristol!

Due to the tremendous rate of ticket sales, the Bristol Public Library will be hosting the Adriana Trigiani presentation at The Paramount Theatre in Bristol, Tenn. THIS Saturday, April 14th at 1:30 p.m. Adriana is beloved by millions of readers around the world for her hilarious and heartwarming novels. She was raised in a small coal-mining town in southwest Virginia in a big Italian family. She chose her hometown for the setting of her debut novel, the critically acclaimed bestseller Big Stone Gap.

2nd Annual Clothesline Project

April 14, 2012
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The Crisis Center, Inc. has organized The 2nd Annual Clothesline Project to honor women who have been affected by sexual and domestic violence. The Clothesline Project event will take place on April 14, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m (Rain date April 15, 2012) at the State Street Mural, 810 State Street, Bristol, TN. The event will include awareness activities, music, food and much more.

Ballroom lessons at Bristol Ballet

Bristol Virginia Democratic Committee to host Bristol Virginia City Council Public Forum

On Thursday, April 12th, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. a public forum for Bristol Virginia City Council Candidates will take place at the Bristol Public Library, 701 Goode St., Bristol, VA 24201, in the J. Henry Kegley Meeting Room. All of the candidates on the local ballot are Independent. This non-partisan public forum is sponsored as a service to Bristol voters by the Bristol Virginia Democratic Committee.

Keep Bristol Beautiful Accepting Submissions for T-shirt Artwork

Keep Bristol Beautiful invites the community to submit original artwork for consideration for use on the 20th Annual South Holston Lake and River Cleanup t-shirts and posters. Artwork can be digital (minimum 8x10, 300 dpi eps) or on paper. Artwork is due by April 26 and ¬must be original to the artist. Submissions should be dropped off at The Bristol Chamber of Commerce at 20 Volunteer Parkway, or mailed to: Kathy Lowdermilk, Bristol Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 519, Bristol, VA 24203.

State Street Farmers Market Call for Vendors — 2012 Market Season Nears!

The fields are being plowed, the greenhouses are full of fresh young plants, the workdays are getting longer for the farmers......it must be Farmers Market season. With that in mind, the State Street Farmers Market is taking booth reservations for the 2012 season. To be a part of the State Street Farmers Market vendors may go on-line to www.statestreetfarmersmarket.org and complete an application on-line or print the document and mail to State Street Farmers Market, PO Box 1189, Bristol, TN 37621. Included in the booth space rental are one eight-foot table and two chairs. Market rules and regulations are also available on the website.
