FREE Business Basics Workshop at the BPL

The Bristol Public Library and People Inc. will be co-sponsoring a FREE Business Basics Workshop on Tuesday, February 7th from 9:30am-12:30pm in the J. Henry Kegley Meeting Room at the Bristol Public Library. Find out if you’re ready to start a business, the steps for starting a business, marketing and customer service advice and the resources available to be successful. They will walk you through every aspect of getting started. The Business Basics Workshop is free, but advanced registration is required. To register, please go to www.peopleinc.eventbrite.com. AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' at The Paramount

Ain’t Misbehavin’ is an extraordinary musical because it encompasses 30 show-stopping musical numbers that take you on a journey not only through the Fats Waller song book but through Harlem in its heyday. With snazzy period costumes, complete with bowlers and spats and ermine and pearls, the dynamic five member cast and a six piece band turn the theatre into a rollicking rent party. The Beaver Creek Storytellers with Becky Wise at 606 State Street Gallery

Join the Beaver Creek Storytellers and Becky Wise of the Java J Jammers at 606 State Street Gallery on February 2 from 7 pm tp 9 pm. Admission is $5, and refreshments will be served at intermission. The Beaver Creek Storytellers of Bristol, Virginia-Tennessee is a non-profit association of storytelling enthusiasts who gather to support the Art of Story.They formed in 1997 when ten storytellers gathered at one member’s office to hone our techniques and performance skills. BCS is dedicated to assisting storytellers in developing their craft, promoting their performances, building a larger audience for story, and providing a community service. Stop by the 606 State Street Gallery in Bristol, Tennessee, on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. and enjoy the storytelling with us. Our performing guests include storytellers, musicians, singers, and poets.

Beth Holloway set as first speaker for Discovery Series

Keeping with current events, the Bristol Public Library would like to announce the first speaker of the 2012 Discovery Series, Beth Holloway, mother of Natalee Holloway. The event will be held on Thursday, March 22nd at 7 p.m. Holloway talks about hope, courage in sheer adversity, and travel safety. The purchase of a $50 ticket will support Library programs and will provide the ticketholder with access to the Private Meet & Greet at 6p.m., reserved seating to the public presentation at 7p.m., and a complimentary copy of Beth Holloway’s book Loving Natalee. All other seats are free general admission. Tickets and seating are limited.
