Love MAGIC? Check out this Dave Vaught Interview in Top Hat Magic Artist Spotlight!

September 28, 2011
Dave Vaught — Magician

Master Illusionist and member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, became interested in the art of magic and illusion as a child and began performing for private parties by the age of fifteen.

At the same time, Dave also became involved in his second love, music, as a vocalist and lead guitarist. Eventually he was able to balance both areas by choreographing his shows to specially selected music to give his performances a more theatrical and unified theme

Throughout his college years Dave continued to entertain audiences on a part-time basis. In 1981 he made the decision to devote all his attention to a full-time career as a magician / illusionist. Since that time audiences all across the United States and in four foreign countries have enjoyed the Magic of Dave Vaught and Company as they performed on cruise ships, in night clubs, at conventions, for schools and colleges and filmed five TV shows including HBO and Showtime. As a full-time entertainer, Dave continues to delight and amaze spectators with his special combination of magic, music and mystery.

Review of Tony Bennett's Duets II by Ross Mikesell — Sessions 27

Tony Bennett's new album is available at Sessions 27
September 28, 2011
Tony Bennett has been singing popular music and standards for over sixty years and has made roughly the same number of albums in that time, so basically, the man knows what he’s doing. This album follows up five years after he released the first Duets and follows the same template of gathering a cross section of musical celebrities to share a microphone on songs from the Great American Songbook. It’s a tried and true method for producing a widely commercial album. Perhaps the best example in recent years is Frank Sinatra’s Duets from 93, which was certainly financially successful, but less so artistically.
