Art D'Vine is BACK!

The five art galleries on State Street — Kil'n Time, Benjamin Walls Gallery, 606 State Street Gallery, One of a Kind Gallery and blowfish emporium will be hosting their third Art D'Vine — a gallery hop and wine tasting event.

Participants are invited to stroll through the galleries and sample an array of wine (one variety at each gallery) onAugust 12 from 7pm to 9pm. The first two gallery hops were an enormous success and wildly popular, so don't miss out!

This event is free of charge! Come down and look at the antique cars and beautiful art on State Street FRIDAY!

AACA National Fall Meet in Bristol!

Thousands of vintage car, truck, and motorcycle fans are expected in Bristol this year for the AACA Southeastern National Fall Meet, highlighting “AACA Original” unrestored cars showing in AACAs Historic Preservation of Original Features Class. The three-day event is a celebration of Americas passion for the automobile with AACA members from across the U.S. showing original and restored vehicles of all types from the early days of motoring up to and including 1986 . Highlights include a Downtown Bristol Cruise-In on Friday night featuring entertainment for AACA members by renowned male vocalist Ivan Parker at the historic Paramount Theater, followed by the AACA National Show on Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway. Participation in Saturdays show and other special AACA events require membership in AACA and pre-registration by July 30, 2011. Friday evening downtown Cruise-in event is open to the general public. The Cruise-In, situated in historic downtown Bristol, is open to the general public and any antique or “special interest” car, truck or motorcycle that creates a feeling of nostalgia, stimulates a memory, or fulfills a fantasy. It will be a perfect opportunity to mix it up with beautiful original and restored antique cars from around the country. The area is populated by area restaurants and shops. Mayberry Deputy David L. Browing will be on hand for entertainment. Entertainment for AACA show registrants will include a concert by Ivan Parker at the historic restored Paramount Theater built in 1931.

AACA Southeastern Fall Meet Car Show at Bristol Motor Speedway
Saturday, August 13, 11am to 3pm
The meet will showcase some of Americas finest antique vehicles from the earliest days of the automobile up to and including stock configured vehicles through 1986.The show feature will be “AACA Original” vehicles showing in AACAs Historic Preservation of Original Features Class. “AACA Orginal” vehicles are some of the finest maintained unrestored vehicles known including interesting barn find antiques. These cars will be displayed together in their own area of the show field. Early registrations include a 1905 Packard, a 1939 American Bantam Station Wagon, and many other marques of all years including Delorean, Crosley, Triumph, MG, Chalmers, Cushman, Volkswagen, as well as a host of GM, Ford, and Chrysler Vehicles. Ellen Hopkins to speak @ BPL!

Ellen Hopkins, New York Times bestselling teen author, will be speaking to the Bristol community as part of the Bristol Public Library’s 2011 Discovery Series on Tuesday, August 16th at 7 p.m. In October 2004, she published her first novel Crank , a portrayal of a person dealing with meth addiction. Ellen Hopkins has written seven young adult novels and will be releasing her eighth, Perfect, in September 2011 with her adult novel Triangles releasing the following month. This event will be held in the J. Henry Kegley Meeting Room at the Bristol Public Library. Ms. Hopkins’ presentation is free and open to the public, no ticket is required. Everyone likes a little nostalgia, so how about guessing the number one pop song in the country in 1981? You got it... Don’t Stop Believin’ by the ever popular band Journey. Yes, the same Journey that recently played to a standing room only crowd on the streets of New York City during the Today show concert series. Well, Bristol is hosting the next best thing with Frontiers-The Journey Tribute. Frontiers is THE national full-time tribute to Journey. Performing over 150 shows yearly at some of the most prestigious music venues, halls, and theatres in the country the band has had standing ovations after knock-out performances.

Beginner Yoga at The Healing Arts Center
