Cathleen Falsani to speak at Train Station

Cathleen Falsani is the former religion columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times and author of The God Factor, Sin Boldly, The Dude Abides: The Gospel According to the Coen Brothers, and The Thread: Finding a Sacred Place in Cyberspace. Falsani is syndicated by the Religion News Service and is a contributing editor and columnist for Sojourners Magazine. Since 2004, Falsani has been the author of a popular faith and culture blog entitled "The Dude Abides" . The 2005 James O. Supple Religion Writer of the Year and a graduate of Wheaton College, Northwestern University and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, she was a 2009 Divinity School Media Fellow at Duke University.

The Paramount Chamber Players to present Winter Romance

February 27, 2011
The Paramount Chamber Players (TPCP), joined by guest pianist Chih-long Hu, will present Winter Romance on Saturday, February 26 and Sunday, February 27. The Saturday performance will be presented at 7:30 p.m. in Mathes Hall, Room 107, at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City. Sunday’s performance will be presented at 3:00 p.m. at The Paramount Center for the Arts in Bristol.

The Bristol Public Library’s 5th Annual Candy Contest was a great success. Emily Gilbert, a student at the Southeast Culinary and Hospitality College, provided a cooking demonstration while culinary student Cara Little, Chef Joe Cumm, and Debra Zandi from Troutdale Kitchens, judged the homemade candies.

2011 Regional Preservation Awards Nominations Now Being Accepted

Each year, the Heritage Alliance celebrates the best in historic preservation efforts in our region by hosting our annual Regional Preservation Awards. These awards, now in their 5th year, have celebrated a wide variety of projects, individuals, and groups who are doing their part in protecting and promoting our region’s cultural and architectural heritage. This year’s nomination form is now available on the Heritage Alliance website and attached to this email. I would ask that if you have a project, individual, or group in mind that you take the time to nominate them! Guidelines and restrictions can be found on the award form. Nominations will be received until mid-March, when the selection committee will determine this year’s recipients.
