Ken Farmer/ Bob Miller, auctioneers at BPL!

October 06, 2010
If you have any antiques in your home, get them out and dust them off, because popular appraiser, Ken Farmer, from the PBS program, 'Antiques Roadshow,' and his associate, Bob Miller, will be in the Tri-Cities on Thursday, October 7th.

Kenneth W. Farmer Jr. is the owner of Ken Farmer Auctions and Appraisals, LLC in Radford, Virginia. Mr. Farmer has served as a guest appraiser in furniture, folk art, decorative arts, and musical instruments on the PBS television series Antique Roadshow. Bob Miller has been an associate of Ken Farmer Auctions and Appraisals since 2002 and has appeared in appraisal fairs throughout North Carolina and Virginia.

Farmer and Miller will appear at the Bristol Public Library on October 7th as part of the library’s 2010 Discovery Series. During this time, they will appraise antiques that attendees bring to this event. While their appearance at the library pertains to antiques and worth, there will be no auction. The intent is to inform the public and perhaps stumble on some valuable antiques.
Due to the overwhelming success of last year’s event, there will be two sessions this year; the first session is from 2-4p.m. with a second session lasting from 6-8p.m. Ken Farmer and Bob Miller will be appraising items in the J. Henry Kegley Meeting Room of the Bristol Public Library. This event is open to the public. Tickets will be passed out on the day of the event on a first come, first serve basis. The cost is only $10 per appraisal item with a limit of 5 items per person.

Local antique shops are encouraged to participate by setting up a display table in the Virgie R. Fleenor Art Gallery for patrons to enjoy while waiting in line for Ken Farmer or Bob Miller to appraise their items. For more information, call (276)821-6148 or visit www.bristol-library.org.
