YWCA Bristol The YWCA Bristol Moms-R-Us Teen Pregnancy Education program has teamed up with Buckle Up for Life and Bristol’s Promise to offer free and open to the public car seat checks at the YWCA parking lot on Thursday, July 20 from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. All infant carriers, convertible and booster car seats can be checked.

Buckle Up for Life is a community-based passenger safety education program that educates the entire family on critical safety behaviors and can assist with obtaining free child car seats to families in need. Car seat checks will be provided by certified child passenger safety technicians to help install or check your car seat and ensure that children are properly restrained.

Bristol’s Promise is a Bristol TN/VA coalition of organizations, businesses, faiths, schools and government working together for children and youth. Bristol’s Promise works together to bring the “5 Promises” to children and youth in our Bristol community: Caring Adults, Safe Places, Healthy Start, Effective Education and Opportunities to Serve. In addition Bristol’s Promise works to assess needs of children and youth, plan programming with evidence-based programs and best practices, network and share information and community resources and evaluate how our community is doing in service to our children and youth. Bristol’s Promise collaborates and operates as the fiscal agent for Buckle Up for Life, Bristol Tennessee City Schools Reading Buddies and the Sullivan County Anti-Drug Coalition.

Moms-R-Us teen pregnancy program is on a mission to improve the health and wellness of teens and their babies by influencing their decisions regarding pregnancy. The program provides prenatal and prepared childbirth classes, parenting classes and support groups for teens 19 and younger who are pregnant for the first time. All services are free of charge to mothers and families.

The car seat checks will be offered on a first come first served basis. For more information about Moms-R-Us or the free car seat checks contact YWCA Bristol at 423.968.9444.
