Full Moon Jam: Marcus Boyd
Marcus grew up in and has lived most of his life close to his roots in Southwest Virginia. He learned to play guitar at the young age of 8 and played in church growing up. His love for music brought him to learn to play piano, bass, banjo and mandolin as well. He broadened his horizons in his college days at Clinch Valley College (now UVA Wise), where he met several talented musicians of differing styles and spent many evenings collaborating. He grew up playing country, bluegrass and gospel music and later became acquainted with rock, blues and classical styles. Some of his professional influences include Tom Petty, Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Leo Kottke, and Counting Crows. His music is a blend of traditional country, bluegrass, modern country and rock. Many enjoy his baritone vocals and smooth guitar style.
