The BPL's 6th Annual Candy Contest Winners

February 27, 2012

The Bristol Public Library’s 6th Annual Candy Contest was a great success. Chef Norman, an instructor at the Southeast Culinary and Hospitality College, provided a cooking demonstration while Chef Richard Erskine and culinary students Desmond Hill, Jenna Wyatt, Ikeshia Davis and Nick Harley judged the homemade candies. Prizes were awarded for each age group. In the age group of 13-17 years old, Breanna Fleenor took home the first prize with Krispy Delight Fudge. For ages 18 and older, Judy Gass won first place, as well as the grand prize of “Best in Show” with Caramel Pretzels. Milade Saieh-Gomez placed second with Chocolate-Coconut Bon Bons and Joan Hutton took third with “Faux Berries”. During the contest, participants and audience members were invited to sample and enjoy all of the homemade candies. All recipes from today’s contest will be posted for the public on the library’s website at www.bristol-library.org.
