State Street Farmers Market Corn Fest

July 30, 2012

The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 8AM to 12 Noon at the Farmers Market housed in the Downtown Center located on 810 State Street. If you have never had corn on the cob for breakfast, come try it, you might just like it. Don’t forget to pick up the newest in the series of six market posters being featured this year. Supplies are limited.

There may not be corn in other parts of the country, but the State Street Farmers Market is running over with corn of every kind. Terry Napier, Director of Parks and Recreation which oversees market operations said recently, “It seems everyone has been looking for those first bushels of corn and for a while we weren’t sure we were going to have any, but our farmers came through. You have just got to get here early, it’s moving fast.”

In order to allow everyone the opportunity to try all the different varieties that the famers market is offering, the annual Corn Fest has been set. Each year the market sets up a kettle and boils ears of corn provided by the vendors. Everyone is welcome to come by and try all the different varieties.
