Shirl Mikeal art signing at Cranberry Lane

January 23, 2012

Please join us at Cranberry Lane on Saturday, January 28th from 1-3, as we welcome artist Shirl Mikeal for an art signing. Shirley Keesee Mikeal, known by her friends and loved ones as Shirl Mikeal, was born in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Bristol, Virginia. Shirl now resides in Bristol, Tennessee, with her husband Glen. In 1984, while teaching landscape painting classes, Shirl began adding New England style saltbox houses and weathered barns to her paintings. She concentrated on adding fine detail to her images and developed her own style of painting. Her love for painting this type of art has grown immensely over the years.

Shirl was the founder of Cranberry Lane, a home decor store located in Bristol, Virginia. For many years, she operated the store offering customers framed art, gift items, primitive style furniture and country and primitive decor. Shirl sold the business in order to allow herself more time to devote to her painting. Most days you can now find Shirl at home, in her studio, behind a canvas with her paint brush in hand!

"I am inspired by the landscapes around me. I have lived most of my life right here in the area of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee, where we have four distinctly beautiful seasons. God's paint palette is unbelievably vast, and it's ours to borrow. I feel blessed to be able to find beauty in everyday life and I am so very thankful for the guff's He has given me."
