Press conference by Bristol, Virginia, Historic District Preservation Award Committee to announce annual award program and inaugural recipient

The Bristol, Virginia, Historic District Preservation Award Committee will hold a media conference Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 1:00pm at Pleasant Hill, 214 Johnson Street, Bristol, Virginia, to announce the new annual Historic District Preservation Award program, and to recognize the recipient of the inaugural award. The mission of the committee is to encourage excellence in preservation and thereby decrease blight in the City by recognizing and honoring property owners and developers who engage in high-quality preservation projects within the city’s five historic districts. The historic districts include: Euclid Avenue Historic District, Solar Hill Historic District, Bristol Downtown Commercial Historic District, Bristol Warehouse Historic District, and Virginia Hill Historic District. As the press conference will be held outside, please dress for the weather. Information about the application requirements and awards procedure will be provided in a media kit distributed at the conference. Applications will be available in May 2014. The award will be presented annually in May, National Historic Preservation Month. The public is invited to attend the media conference.
