Old Christmas Celebrated in Story by the Beaver Creek Storytellers

January 02, 2012

The 606 State Street Gallery, located at 606 State Street, Bristol, Tennessee, presents The Beaver Creek Storytellers celebration of Old Christmas, on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Admission is $5.00. There will be free refreshments at intermission.

January 5th is the eve of Old Christmas, the final day of the Twelve Days of
Christmas. In custom and legend, it is to some people the actual day of
Jesus' birth, and to others the day of Epiphany, when Jesus was presented to
the three wise men who traveled from the east to see him. Old Christmas is
an Appalachian tradition carried here from the old world and celebrated in
our region until it began to fade away in the early 1900's. The Beaver Creek
Storytellers will bring you stories of family and the holidays and of
Christmases remembered. Please join us for stories, music, and free
refreshments at intermission.
