Each winter the cities of Bristol Tennessee and Virginia call for nominations to the Mayors’ Award of Distinction honors and this year the program will celebrate its fifth year. During that time the individuals and organizations recognized for their efforts clearly paint a picture of our community.

Many people who have quietly gone about their days making others lives easier or more fulfilling have been honored in their community through this program format. Groups who strive to make sure the less fortunate have food, clothing, housing and medical needs met has been recognized for their valiant efforts.

In all 17 individuals or groups have been acknowledged in a conveyance ceremony that takes place each spring. This year the ceremony will take place at the Paramount Center for the Arts on Sunday, April 22, 2012. The community will be invited to the event along with families of the award recipients.
