Downtown Tribute Series Continues with Frontiers-The Journey Tribute

August 08, 2011

Everyone likes a little nostalgia, so how about guessing the number one pop song in the country in 1981? You got it... Don’t Stop Believin’ by the ever popular band Journey. Yes, the same Journey that recently played to a standing room only crowd on the streets of New York City during the Today show concert series. Well, Bristol is hosting the next best thing with Frontiers-The Journey Tribute. Frontiers is THE national full-time tribute to Journey. Performing over 150 shows yearly at some of the most prestigious music venues, halls, and theatres in the country the band has had standing ovations after knock-out performances.

Frontiers have become one of the most sought after tribute acts in the nation. The band regularly headlines sold out shows at the House of Blues venues throughout the country.
The key to the band’s success is an unparalleled ability to live and breathe the music of Journey onstage and a unique back-story that blurs the line between tribute and reality. In 2007 Frontiers vocalist Jeremy Hunsicker attracted the attention of Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain and founding member and guitarist Neal Schon. In short order, Hunsicker found himself writing songs and rehearsing the Journey catalog with the band and discussing an offer to move forward as the new vocalist of Journey. As time drew on, however, it became clear that the band was on a different timetable, and with the birth of his first child imminent, Hunsicker asked the band to consider other alternatives.

“The tribute series the city is hosting this year is proving to be an enormous success,” said Darlene Cole, Venues Manger for Bristol. “Our last concert, featuring an Eagles tribute band, saw over 1200 persons for a standing room only crowd at the Downtown Center and before that our Aerosmith tribute band saw 900 fans. Everybody enjoys reliving the songs of the 80’s and 90’s.”

As nostalgia for all things Journey has reached a fever pitch, Frontiers has continued to recreate the music in the spirit of vintage live Journey in a way no other can.
The show is scheduled for Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. in the Downtown Center located at 810 State Street. There is no charge for admission. Food and drink are available on site. Bring your own chair or enjoy one of the limited number that is provided. For more information contact Darlene Cole at 423-764-4171 or dcole@bristoltn.org.
