Deadline Nears for Municipal Academy

January 02, 2012

The 4th Annual Citizens Municipal Academy’s application deadline is just around the corner. The final day one may apply for the academy is Monday, January 9, 2012. Applications may be obtained on-line at www.bristoltn.org or one may be picked up in the City Manager’s Office (Room 201) located in the Municipal Building at 801 Anderson Street.

The Citizens Municipal Academy is open to anyone who is 21 or over and is a citizen of Bristol, Tennessee. The academy answers most questions anyone has about how city government works, how the yearly budget is developed, or what the basic functions of city planning and community development are.

The course lasts six weeks and requires about 2-hours each Thursday evening from late January through February. Upon completion of the course, participating citizens will receive a certificate of completion that will be presented at a graduation ceremony.
The city is offering a unique opportunity for citizens to familiarize themselves with how city services are delivered on a daily basis and how local government works.
