Bristol Public Library Announces 2010 Discovery Series Schedule

January 10, 2010

The Bristol Public Library is pleased to announce the 2010 Discovery Series Schedule. The past two years have been very successful for the Discovery Series. The Discovery Series committee was formed last year to ensure that we bring only the best and most sought after speakers, authors, and workshops. We are very pleased by the final decisions made to the line-up and anticipate outstanding attendance to these events. It is our hope that we will continue to magnify Albert C. Noble’s Mission by Expanding Minds and Building Community at your Bristol Public Library.

We are very excited to announce our line-up for the 2010 Discovery Series. We start off right in early February celebrating Green Week in collaboration with the Keep Bristol Beautiful. Speakers will be G. Dodd Galbreath and Jeff Barrie. Author Adriana Trigiani will be joining us in late February for what’s sure to be a full house. Bristol’s very own First Annual Community Read will be in April and to supplement the book chosen, Fair and Tender Ladies, Lee Smith will be here to speak and discuss. In May, highly requested David Baldacci will be speaking at the Paramount Center for the Arts.

In the third year of our Worldview Scholarship Series, MSNBC Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski will be speaking in September and joining the area teens for a luncheon at Virginia Intermont College.

Expanding on the successful event from last year, Antiques Roadshow Appraiser, Ken Farmer, will be appraising Americana items in a special all day event with Bob Miller in October. Finalizing our 2010 line-up will be Ruth Graham, author and daughter of evangelist Billy Graham speaking in November.
