Bristol Convention & Visitors Bureau To Host Digital Photography Workshop

June 18, 2012

Photographer and digital artist, Malcolm J. Wilson, will lead a basic digital photography workshop on June 23 from 8:30 am until 5:30 pm at the Bristol Chamber of Commerce. A beginner workshop focusing on composition, lighting & camera settings, the day includes lecture in the morning, with students capturing the unique splendor of
historic downtown Bristol in the afternoon. Classroom reconvenes after field photography for critiques of student work.

For over 20 years, Wilson has worked with digital photography. Before moving to Bristol, TN several years ago, he worked as a commercial photographer in Cincinnati for 19 years. He currently uses his digital photography skills in advertising and marketing work and for his personal fine arts projects. His photography has been exhibited in both the Appalachian region and nationally, and his work is included in permanent collections at University of Kentucky Appalachian Center, Southeast Community College Appalachian Archives and The Kennedy Center.

“With the explosive growth in popularity of digital cameras in the last few years, so many people now have access to the convenience and ease of digital photography,” says Wilson. “However, the full potential of a digital camera rarely gets explored, and there is so much more to creating memorable photographs than just utilizing the auto setting,” he added.

Cost for the workshop is $69 for Bristol Chamber members, and $89 for non-members, with proceeds benefitting the Bristol Convention & Visitors Bureau. Class size is limited, and payment is due in advance, no later than June 15. Make checks payable to: The Bristol Convention & Visitors Bureau, 20 Volunteer Parkway, Bristol, TN 37620
