BCMA/Virginia Intermont College — Make Birthplace of Country Music Cultural Heritage Center Beautiful

April 16, 2012

The Birthplace of Country Music Alliance and Virginia Intermont College art students are collaborating on a beautification project for the Birthplace of Country Music Cultural Heritage Center, located on the corner of Moore & Lee Streets in Historic Downtown Bristol, VA.

"Student designed murals will cover the window openings of the museum building," says Jessica Turner, V.I. Assistant Professor of Cultural Heritage & Public Arts studies and BCMA Board Member. "The murals will provide artistic vision and create community interest to the museum in its final stage of fundraising."

Plywood and lumber has been donated by Godsey Supply for the art students to paint. In the coming weeks, we will see the sketches painted and hung over the boarded up windows of the future Cultural Heritage Center. No date has been set for final installation.

The BCMA has raised more than $9 million to fund the $10 million Cultural Heritage Center construction project, expected to break ground next year.
