2011 Citizens Municipal Academy Application Deadline Nears

The deadline for the 2011 Citizens Municipal Academy is looming near. Friday, December 31, 2010 is the last day applications will be accepted. City offices will be closed, however applicants may apply online at www.bristoltn.org. Candidates may choose to print the application from the website and mail it in. Applications postmarked by December 31 will be accepted. “The limited slots are filling fast, we encourage all those wishing to attend this very informative program to please apply now,” Terrie Talbert, Director of the City’s Department of Community Relations said. Talbert continued, “This is the third year the program has been offered and everyone who has completed it has described the program as both enlightening and enjoyable.”
The academy is designed to familiarize citizens with city government, its services and role in the community. Classes will meet each Thursday at 6:00 p.m. beginning on January 20, 2011 and will run for six weeks ending on February 24, 2011. At the conclusion of the Academy, participants will be invited to a Certification Ceremony taking place on Tuesday March 1, 2011 at the regularly scheduled City Council meeting to be publicly recognized and receive a graduation certificate.
