Arts & Entertainment District Artist Power Hour Winner

June 29, 2016

Fifteen-year-Old Elizabeth Oakley was the winner of the Artists’ Power Hour, which took place Saturday, June 18 during State of the Arts Weekend in Historic Downtown Bristol, TN/VA. An avid artist, Elizabeth attends Tennessee High School and is a member of the percussion section of the band; she also plays the mandolin. Oakley’s mother Ann is continuously impressed with the creativity of her daughter, who has participated in the Artists’ Power Hour in years past: “I love to see her create things and express herself,” Oakley says. “It’s amazing how much joy I see in her when she is in that creative state.”

State of the Arts Weekend is an annual summer event organized by Believe in Bristol’s Arts & Entertainment Steering Committee. The weekend-long celebration plays host to a large variety of arts and entertainment activities held throughout Historic Downtown Bristol and is part of the continuing effort to keep the Bristol art scene's momentum going strong and to establish the cities as the region's premier destination for arts and entertainment.
