Art D'Vine Will Kick Off the 3rd Annual State of the Arts Weekend in Historic Downtown Bristol

June 06, 2013

On Friday, June 14, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the downtown Bristol galleries are again joining forces to bring Art D’Vine to the local community. This evening art walk offers patrons the chance to gain after-hours access to merchants, sample domestic and international wines, and enjoy a range of works from artists across the region.

“This Art D’Vine is the kick-off event to our 3rd Annual State of the Arts Weekend,” says René Rodgers, Associate Director of Believe in Bristol. “Strolling around the galleries is a great way to celebrate the arts and support our downtown community. Art D’Vine is also a great start for all the fun arts-related events that follow over the next two days!”

As with the previous gallery hops, participants are invited to stroll around Historic Downtown Bristol, stopping at Kil’n Time, Benjamin Walls Gallery, 606 State Street Gallery, One of a Kind Gallery, blowfish emporium, Pretty Girl Station, The Purple Loon and Hatching Perspective Gallery. Each gallery will feature different varieties of wine for sampling.

A warm summer’s evening is the perfect time to enjoy fine art and fine wine as you explore the downtown galleries, all of which will be highlighting special events, releases or artists:

· Kil’n Time will be hosting the Little City Roller Girls in the studio, which should make for a fast-paced evening! Kil’n Time will also be hosting the authors and illustrator of Timeless Requiem, a collection of science fiction and horror short stories, for a book signing.
· Benjamin Walls will be showing a new release of a stormy landscape at his gallery.
· Pretty Girl Station will feature works by artist Catherine Vaughan-Keen, and also have a t-shirt with a State Street scene on sale.
· The featured artists at 606 State Street Gallery are Don Gotterbarn, who works in watercolors, and Nyela Hand Cohoon, who works in oils. The gallery will also host the 606 Jammers for a musical evening!
· Hatching Perspective Gallery will be showing the Virginia High School Senior Art Show.
· A local artist will lead an exciting and creative live arts demonstration at blowfish emporium.
· The Rising Stars Art Show will be held at One of a Kind Gallery, featuring art from local art students. Renee Reed Gilliam will also be at One of Kind, signing her local history book A Century Old and debuting a new children’s book.

Several of the galleries will also be offering discounts and sales promotions all weekend long!

As always, this event is free to the public, though there is a suggested one-time donation of $5 with the proceeds supporting the work of the Arts and Entertainment District of Historic Downtown Bristol, TN/VA. There are two more Art D’Vines to look forward to this year: September 13 and December 13.
