Arts and Entertainment District Planning 2nd Annual State of the Arts Celebration

May 21, 2012

Once again, Bristol will be alive with the arts for a special State of the Arts Celebration the second weekend in June, coordinated by the Believe in Bristol Arts and Entertainment District Steering Committee. Committee members are working with numerous venues, artists, and performers to promote and plan arts activities to enjoy throughout downtown the entire weekend. It's also a time to spotlight artists and venues who are doing what they do best: bring Bristol consistently great performances and memorable artistic experiences.

"It's a time to come downtown to experiment, explore and experience art right here in Downtown Bristol," said Katherine Bowman, Associate Director of Believe in Bristol.

The State of the Arts Celebration is part of the continuing effort to keep the Bristol scene's momentum going strong and to establish the cities as the region's premier destination for arts and entertainment.

“We are very excited to be showcasing the wide array of arts and entertainment available in Downtown Bristol,” says Mimi Kind, chair of the Arts and Entertainment District Steering Committee. "The State of the Arts is a celebration to create awareness in our community of just how we are working to cultivate Bristol’s creativity.”

Artists, venues, and performers are invited to contact the Committee to participate in the collective promotions, coordinate with others in downtown Bristol, or participate in the Committee's efforts to build on the success of last year's event.

The following is a partial list of confirmed activities for the State of the Arts Weekend. Other downtown businesses are adding events daily. If you are a business owner in the downtown community and would like to publicize an arts event, or need help developing an event, please contact the Believe in Bristol office at 423-573-2200.
