Steven Mullins — Winner of the State of the Arts Power Hour Competition

For the Artist's Power Hour art competition during State of the Arts Weekend 2013, artists were given one hour to create an original work of art from scratch in front of a live audience — the artist with the most tips at the end of that hour would then be declared the winner. This year's winner — with $160.60 in tips — was Steven Mullins, a miltiary veteran and resident of Bristol, TN.

The third annual State of the Arts Weekend kicks off this Friday, June 14, with Art D’Vine. This event will ignite the weekend-long celebration which plays host to a large variety of arts and entertainment activities held throughout Historic Downtown Bristol on June 14, 15 and 16. With numerous events happening including art sales, a kids’ art day, an art competition, an art swap, a movie in the park, and extended hours for several businesses downtown on Sunday, Bristol is gearing up to be the premier arts and entertainment destination for the area this weekend.

Art D'Vine Will Kick Off the 3rd Annual State of the Arts Weekend in Historic Downtown Bristol

On Friday, June 14, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the downtown Bristol galleries are again joining forces to bring Art D’Vine to the local community. This evening art walk offers patrons the chance to gain after-hours access to merchants, sample domestic and international wines, and enjoy a range of works from artists across the region.

As part of the State of the Arts Weekend, BVU will be screening 2012's "Pitch Perfect" in Cumberland Square Park on Saturday, June 15. Who Art You? Summer Art Camp Registration Now Open!

Find Yourself at Art Camp in Historic Downtown Bristol! By joining our Who Art You? camp, your child can leave their mark on the Bristol arts! This camp focuses on 15 downtown arts and entertainment activities hosted by our local arts-related businesses — activities include painting, pottery, graphic arts, creative movement, music, storytelling, karate, culinary arts, and much, much more. There are two week-long summer sessions, with the camp running daily from 9a.m. to 3p.m. Session 1 is scheduled for June 24-28 and Session 2 for July 22-26; the cost is $250 per child and $25 off for 2+ children. Student Art Brightens the New Year in Downtown Bristol

The Arts and Entertainment District is hosting the 2nd Annual Student Art Display in Downtown Bristol. In an effort to “Cultivate Bristol’s Creativity,” we have invited the local schools to help us beautify our community by providing art to decorate the front windows of the former Hayes Furniture Building on State Street. Each school that participates will have a month-long display period to present their students’ art in the space. Our fourth student gallery of art went up on January 3, showcasing vibrant charcoal and pastel drawings from 3rd and 4th grade students at Highland View and Stonewall Jackson Elementary Schools.

THE CROOKED ROAD NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA DESIGNATION



The Crooked Road is holding a number of public meetings throughout the region to seek input and comments about the NHA. A meeting will be held at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, August 1st in the J. New Arts and Entertainment District Announces Plans for Kids Art Camp

Believe in Bristol and the steering committee for the new Arts and Entertainment District of Downtown Bristol are pleased to announce the creation of an arts-based summer camp for children called “Who Art You? Find Yourself at Art Camp”. The camp will be offered for two weeks during the summer, the first session will be held June 27 — July 1, and the second session will be held July 25 -29.
